A Brief History
Nonnie's Pizza has been family owned
and operated since 1985, a refreshing raity in today's
corporate world. However the recipes have been passed
down through family dating back to 1961. Louise (Non)
and Bob started Ledo's Pizza in Countryside way back
then and the seed was planted. Their children Bob
Jr., Jimmy, and Louise grew up in the business and
worked very hard to bring many years of success for
Ledo's. Then in the early 80's when daughter Louise
and her husband Tim Sr. were planning to open a business
of their own, they were struggling to come up with
a name for their restaurant. They have four boys,
Tim Jr., Tony, Nick and Rick.
Tony came up with the idea that since they were inherting
the family trade from Grandma Non why not honor her
name. The boys, Tim Sr., and Louise all loved the
idea and hence the name Nonnie's Pizza.
Tim Sr., Louise, and the boys sacrificed a lot to
get the original Nonnies off the ground. The family
sold everything and packed the six of them in a two-bedroom
aprtment. They soon became the corner pizza place
and neighborhood bar on Woodward Avenue in Woodridge
for 16 years.
In 2001, after years of serving the community with
their personal family touch, they made a move just
around the corner to the present location at 1565
W. 75th Street. However, the location was the only
thing that changed. The family is still working hard
to provide the best possible service and food around.
